Southern Africa can shake this dependence in a number of areas or at a minimum create a natural buffer with its vast resources of renewable energy.
Switching to mass transit for the most of our travel is a first step and the use of solar and wind energy driven water pumping is next.
The matter of desalination is also very high on the list so that we are not hit with massive inflationary pressures based solely on what happens to fossil fuels.
Even “big oil” knows the benefits of renewable energy…..
