To date, #society has focused its attention on restricting the spread of COVID-19 by closing borders, #lockdowns and testing where this is possible. These strategies are up for discussion as to there timeliness and effectiveness which we are unqualified to respond to at this time.
However, based on a recent event, are we now entering a new phase of #Covid_19 and a call for radical new strategies? This is in light of the fact that the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratories has confirmed SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans) in one tiger at a zoo in New York. This has resulted in the USDA recommending that Anyone sick with COVID-19 should restrict contact with animals, out of an abundance of caution including pets, during their illness, just as they would with other people.
To leaders around the world, the fight against this #pandemic has now moved into uncharted territory, the likes we have not encountered in our lifetime. Will pets now become our enemies?
