Has the “slow boat” now ground to a halt?

16

After spending N$4.2 Billion on a new container terminal https://youtu.be/3E0KAFNj5u4, can #NamPort say if it is in keep and care or disaster mode?

Based on their website, NamPort has a four level system, where level 4 will be considered critical. Level 4 is if and when the virus spreads to the 2 regions within which we as a port operate. it has also instituted a surveillance process of the COVID-19 disease. https://safetyatsea.net/news/2020/namport-introduces-covid-19-surveillence-procedures/

However it is not clear what the true #economic impact is on NamPort or namibia’s #shipping industry. https://www.vesseltracker.com/ shows that as of 31 March 2020, Walvis bay had 64 vessels in port and was expecting 28. Luderitz Port had 7 and expected 4. This is a sign that at least there is movement and we hope that the trend improves while keeping the Covid menace at bay.
