Is going Digital and working from home now a thing?

The current events of 2020 has created a new set of social, technical and digital challenges. This has been exacerbated by the #Pandemic which has now led to worldwide lockdowns and curfews resulting in working from home where possible now a routine rather than an option.

Traditionally, individuals worked in teams to produce projects, while traditional spans of control allowed for immediate supervision and interaction in a singular space.

Up to December 2019, for the average office worker wanting to work from home, the response generally would be to justify it. Then the #COVID-19 pandemic arrived IN FORCE. Now we need permits and licences to justify working in groups at the original workplace or even leaving home in some cases.

Consequent to all of this, there have been increases in the use of digitization via software that allow team working and meetings to take place seamlessly online. The further result of this is that internet infrastructure is struggling to cope with internet speeds slowing down. Added to this, no one can tell when the “new normal” can again become abnormal or will it?

Has society thus been forced to re-orientate itself to look at what was never looked at before? The conversation continues https://issuu.com/rdjbriefing
